The Arabic Online Dyslexia Screener

Test

The Arabic Online Dyslexia Screener aims to screen for dyslexia through the online administration of 7 sub-tests. The screener provides a Dyslexia At Risk Indicator and a severity index. In case there is a risk of dyslexia, the screener will confirm it and estimates its severity. The screener is useful in providing quick and easy indicator for parents at home or educators at schools who can take quick decisions to monitor the performance of students at risk and intervene early when necessary.

The Arabic dyslexia online screener produces an instant report that can be saved and shared about the performance of the child in both Arabic and English and can therefore be utilized by schools in their admission process and in their progress monitoring efforts to follow up with those who need help and support in their Arabic reading.

You can now screen your child at home!

The Arabic Dyslexia Online Screener can be used on children starting from the age of 7 till 11 years old which makes this screener very useful for elementary stage students. There must be a supervising adult attending the screener with the child throughout the entire time. A "Supervising Adult" is a person who knows very well the abilities of the child being tested. A supervising adult can be the child guardians, parents, psychologist, teachers, adult siblings or a special educational needs coordinator or any other educator. A supervising Adult must be at least 21 years old and must know and read the test instructions before using the screener.

The supervising adult observes the child during the test and explains the test instructions and ensures that the child is paying attention during the screener. The screener is extremely important in identifying early potential challenges in any of the 7 sub-tests the screener covers which are vocabulary knowledge, single real word reading, single non-word reading, spelling, fluency of sentence comprehension, auditory short-term working memory, and phonological processing. The screener produces an instant report to be used to plan for support and to also monitor progress.

Testing Instructions

This is a Dyslexia Screener and not a full definitive dyslexia assessment. If you are seeking an approved full dyslexia assessment and diagnosis, you should seek a full psycho-educational evaluation conducted by licensed professionals.

The screener produces a Dyslexia Sat-Risk Indicator which confirms whether the child being tested show signs of dyslexia or not and how severe is the condition.

Under no circumstances should the child be left alone or conduct the test him/herself because this test requires the presence of a supervising adult with the child throughout the entire test.

The screener is only valid for students between 7 and 11 years of age. Children who are younger or older than this age range should not take this screener.

Before starting the screener, kindly ensure that your internet connection is stable and that your computer or laptop are adequately charged. Also, before staring the screener, ensure that you can hear the sound correctly. The use of headphones is recommended to control for external noise during test administration.

Make sure the child knows how to operate the required keys on the computer keyboard when responding.

Supervising adults must not give children indications whether their responses are right or wrong during the actual test items. Instead, neutral responses of encouragement are only allowed.
